New Sponsors boost Charitable donations from Marathon
This year’s Barns Green Half Marathon which takes place on the 28th September, will have some new sponsors which will boost the funds that this magnificent local event raises for charity and other good causes. Once again the main sponsor is Berkeley. The house builder is in the middle of a major building programme in Barns Green which includes
building a brand new school in the village as well as a new development of 69 homes. The Barns Green Half Marathon race route goes passed both the school site and the housing development site on 3 occasions over the 13 mile course adding two significant new landmarks to the race.
In addition to Berkeley, there are 3 new major sponsors this year who are all based locally – More Th>n, Motorline Toyota Horsham and Bluecoat Sports Health and Fitness Club.
Bluecoat Sports Health & Fitness Club is situated in the grounds of Christ’s Hospital School less than two miles from Barns Green. It is a members club with an outstanding array of health and fitness facilities ranging from swimming and fitness through to crèche and kids activities, racket sports and training.
MORE TH>N was established in 2001 and as part of RSA, offers home, car, pet, business and travel insurance from its base in Horsham. MORE TH>N is extremely proud of its long association with Horsham and the surrounding area, and its continuing involvement with the community and hence their keenness to support the Barns Green Half Marathon.
Motorline Toyota Horsham is family run, and one of the longest running Toyota centres in the country. It offers both service with collect and deliver facility, and sales. Situated just a couple of miles from Barns Green on the A264 Five Oaks Road, the dealership was the original sponsor of the Barns Green Half Marathon back in 1982.
The Chairman of the Barns Green Half Marathon Committee, Vernon Jennings commented, “It is wonderful to have More Th>n, Toyota and Bluecoat supporting our race along with Berkeley Homes. We are extremely proud of what the race has been able to achieve and each year the event gets bigger with more runners, and spectators. Our charity this year is Sussex Air Ambulance. Because of the involvement of Berkeley Homes, we will be able to allocate even more funds to our chosen charities as well as the various local and junior organisations that help organise the event on the day.”
This year’s Barns Green Half Marathon will be the 32nd in the events history and takes place on Sunday 28th September at 11am. Once again over 1500 runners are expected to take part in what is the largest sports participation event in the area.
